Windows Mobile Apps Surpass 10,000
Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform was not the most loved on the market, but their Windows Phone 7 platform has been gaining positive momentum. There are now over 10,000 Windows mobile apps available for download in the Windows app store, and this milestone was surpassed in under five months.
That is the fastest that any mobile platform has grown their app store, including Android which took 11 months to surpass the 10,000 app mark. The fact that Microsoft has also inked a deal with Nokia to power all of their future devices with the Windows 7 platform is likely also driving increased app development for the platform. Microsoft has been able to lure consumers in with fancy hardware and a nice looking UI, but keeping them will mean capitalizing on their app store to make the platform flourish.
